| Coverage |
The following are approximate coverage rates. Actual coverage rates will be dictated by substrate porosity. A test area is recommended.
block...........50-75 sq. ft. / gallon
brick............100 - 175 sq. ft. / gallon
concrete.......100 -175 sq. ft. / gallon
stucco..........60-100 sq. ft. / gallon
stone............Call Technical Service for recommendation |
| Surface Preparation |
Surfaces should be cleaned of alkali, efflorescence, sand, surface dust/dirt, oil, grease, chemical films and other contaminants. Concrete surfaces should be fully cured. Air, material and surface temperatures should 40 degrees F or higher during application and cure. Surfaces can be slightly damp prior to application, but for best results and maximum penetration of sealer, a dry surface is recommended. Do not apply sealer when temperatures are expected to fall below 40 degrees F within 4 hours of completed application. Repoint any loose or disintegrated mortar and allow a minimum of 72 hours drying time before application. Caulking and sealant work must be completed prior to application, allowing a minimum of 6-12 hours curing time (or until set). Protect plant life and surfaces to remain uncoated during application. Use drop cloths or masking as required. |
| Application |
Test small area of surface (generally a 5' x 5' section) before starting general application of any clear, penetrating sealers to ensure desired results and coverage rates. Stir or mix material well prior to and occasionally during application. Do not dilute. Apply a mist coat immediately prior to application to help break surface tension and assist with maximum penetration. Flood surfaces by applying from bottom up, applied to saturation, with a controlled 8-10" material rundown to ensure maximum penetration into substrate. Low-pressure, non-atomizing spray is recommended. |
| Clean Up |
Clean equipment and tools with hot soapy water. Overspray can be cleaned immediately with hot soapy water. Dried residue can be cleaned with a mild citric acid or very hot water, then scrubbed with a plastic sponge. |
| Limitations |
Keep material from freezing. To prevent damage to nearby shrubbery and landscaping, cover or protect with drop cloth. Do not apply during inclement weather or when inclement weather is anticipated within 12-24 hours. A test application is recommended to determine coverage rate and performance. Allow 5-7 days prior to testing for the product to fully react. |
